PTFE Material Options
The correct PTFE compound can significantly affect the performance and service life of a seat or packing.
Virgin PTFE
Virgin PTFE provides outstanding chemical resistance, an extremely low coefficient of friction, and excellent sealing characteristics. It is commonly selected for chemically aggressive fluid handling applications and applications where minimizing contamination is important.
Modified PTFE
Modified PTFE can provide improved dimensional stability and reduced deformation under load compared with conventional PTFE while retaining many of the chemical and friction characteristics that make PTFE desirable for sealing applications.
Glass-Filled PTFE
Glass-filled PTFE provides improved wear resistance and dimensional stability compared with virgin PTFE. It can be useful in applications where increased resistance to deformation and wear is required.
Carbon-Filled PTFE
Carbon-filled PTFE can provide increased wear resistance, improved thermal conductivity, and better performance in demanding dynamic sealing applications.
