PEEK Material Options
The appropriate PEEK grade can significantly affect the performance of a valve seat, bushing, bearing, or wear component.
Unfilled PEEK
Unfilled PEEK provides an excellent combination of mechanical strength, chemical resistance, temperature capability, and dimensional stability. It is commonly used for precision components in demanding industrial and fluid-handling applications.
Glass-Filled PEEK
Glass-filled PEEK provides increased stiffness and improved dimensional stability compared with unfilled PEEK. It can be well suited for applications where maintaining geometry under mechanical and thermal loads is particularly important.
Carbon-Filled PEEK
Carbon-filled PEEK can provide increased stiffness, improved wear characteristics, and enhanced dimensional stability for demanding mechanical applications.
Bearing-Grade PEEK
Bearing-grade PEEK compounds are engineered specifically for friction and wear applications. Depending on the formulation, these materials can incorporate carbon fiber, graphite, PTFE, or other additives designed to improve bearing and wear performance.
